Due to the COVID-19 and also the Edinburgh tram works ( which have effectively shut us off ) we have had to take the decision to close the shop – after operating there for 27 years , it was not a decision we took lightly .

Common problems are ;

• NO SOUND – JUST LOW THUMPING NOISE FROM SPEAKERS
• NO TELEPHONE OR SATNAV FUNCTION
• LOSS OF ONE OR MORE CHANNELS
• BLOWS FUSE IN FUSEBOX
• HIGH PITCH WHITE NOISE FROM SPEAKERS
• SHUTS OFF INTERMITTENTLY

If you are reading this post then you probably already know how expensive and difficult to source these units are .. main dealer price usually starts at around £1200 plus Vat – we have so far successfully repaired many units with most main dealers using us as an alternative to replacing the unit – the cost is much more reasonable at £285 … this includes return carriage.

Removal of the amplifier is relatively simple .. its situated in the boot on the left hand side under a pop up cover … there are 3  x  10mm nuts to unscrew and the whole thing comes out enabling the plugs to be disconnected.

Two technicians here in Ireland refused to work on my Mark Levinson amp. They said that the water damage on the three layers of circuit board could not be fixed. So I took a gamble and sent the amp from Ireland to Chris in Scotland. He not only fixed it but charged me fifty pound less than I expected. A new amp costs 1300 euro.
